Literal PRO 2025

LITERAL PRO is a professional political and radical book fair held during the month of May in Barcelona, within the framework of the LITERAL fair. The fair has become one of the key events in the literary, intellectual and political landscape of the city, attracting thousands of people each year and a large number of professionals who exhibit their books and where conferences, debates and concerts are scheduled.

LITERAL PRO aims to become an essential date in the calendar for professionals in the sector from all over Europe and the world. The organization is also working to establish a professional network at the European level in order to make authors from other countries known throughout Europe and thus establish culturally and economically profitable dynamics.

Eco-edition: the book sector’s commitment to technology advances

The work to minimize the environmental impact of the book industry in Catalonia continues. Commitment to ecology is awareness, but also resources, methodology and specific tools that help the book sector in its day-to-day life. In recent years, publishers, printers and the Department of Culture (ICEC) have worked together to make these resources and tools available to the book ecosystem.

Are you interested in knowing how we got here? Would you like to learn about some of these resources and tools?

  • Alex Pi, director of the Business Development Area of ​​the ICEC, will explain the environmental sustainability grants that are given specifically for the book sector.
  • Marta Fonolleda, director of the Eco-Editing Institute of Catalonia, will explain the development of the bookDAPer tool.

The role of the publishing sector in the struggle for Palestinian liberation

This panel will explore the role that the publishing sector has historically played in the resistance to Israeli imperialism and colonialism and how it is currently organizing through Publishers for Palestine. Publishers from different parts of the world will discuss how to stop complicity, creating spaces for critical voices and counter-narratives.

How to confront authoritarianism and anti-rights movements from the publishing sector?

This roundtable brings together publishers from different parts of the world where there are growing anti-rights movements that question freedom of expression, liberties and human rights. There will be a discussion on what publishers can do to offer and support resistance to censorship and authoritarian threats in these contexts.
