Literal PRO
LITERAL PRO is a professional fair of the political and radical book that is celebrated during the month of May in Barcelona, parallel to the LITERAL fair. The fair has become one of the key events in the literary, intellectual and political landscape of the city, attracting thousands of people each year and a large number of professionals who exhibit their books and where conferences, debates and concerts are scheduled.
Imagined as the professional side of the fair, LITERAL PRO was organized for the first time in 2019 at the initiative of the publishers Tigre de Paper Edicions and Bellaterra Edicions, and brought together almost a hundred publishers. In 2022, this professional space, which takes place once a year, was renewed. LITERAL PRO is currently managed by the Literal Fair organizing group
The aim of the fair is to offer an alternative space to major European fairs, providing a pleasant environment where publishers and rights holders have time to exchange and share information about their publishing projects, imagine collaborations and assign or acquire rights.
LITERAL PRO 2024 will take place on May 24 and 25 from 9am to 6pm. Registrations will be open from November 14, 2023.
Literally PRO 2024
LITERAL PRO has a space with two large-capacity rooms in an enclosed cultural enclosure. One of them with an exhibition space, where each publisher can show their outstanding books, and for meetings between publishers. The other will be an assembly hall that will host group meetings, conferences and training sessions.
The aim is to provide the ideal space to discuss and exchange information about publishers, projects, collaborations, sell or exchange rights, plan events in the framework of critical thinking and radical books. The organization also works to establish a network of professional work at the European level to raise awareness of authors from other countries across Europe and thus establish profitable dynamics both culturally and economically.
LITERAL PRO aims to become an essential date in the calendar for professionals in the sector from all over Europe and the world. Literal PRO will take place in the old industrial area of Fabra i Coats. At Carrer Sant Adrià 20 in Barcelona. Fabra i Coats is an old factory that hosted important workers’ struggles during the 1970s. It has been reclaimed as a public space for the community.
